Portable appliance testing is a must in the workplace, but for the business owner or manager it doesn’t have to represent a major disruption. Our specialists can conduct a test at a time that suits you, and during our visit we will endeavour to be as unobtrusive as possible. When the test is complete, you’ll be left with the relevant paperwork that shows you’ve done what was needed to remain compliant with all current regulations.
PAT testing involves a visual check on every small appliance in a given location, including kettles, TVs, power tools, extension leads, computers, desk lamps, portable heaters, cleaning equipment, telephones and so much more. In general, any portable items which weigh less than 18kg are included in the test, so in most workplaces this adds up to a significant number of items, both in offices and on factory floors.
Having your portable appliances tested and inspected for potential damage can lead to the discovery of problems at an early stage, enabling you to arrange repairs or replacements without having to endure major damage later on. If a plug or wire is faulty and left unchecked, it could of course result in an electrical fire or perhaps a harmful shock to an employee. Clearly, you will want to do all you can to make sure you are operating a safe working environment.
Here at VF Electrical Services, we conduct PAT testing and various other tests and inspections for industrial, commercial and domestic clients in all parts of Scotland.
