PAT Testing

If you own or manage any form of commercial property, you probably already know about the importance of the Portable Appliance Test (PAT). Regular testing of appliances is a must, whether it’s in the workplace, in a public facility of in rented accommodation. As the designated responsible person, you could be held to account should something go wrong.

Regular PAT testing shows that you take your responsibilities seriously, and that various appliances have been checked to determine whether they are safe to use. Issues looked at with each test include the condition of plug tops, cables and the appliances themselves. If there are any problems with an appliance during the test, it can be useful to know so you have the opportunity to repair or replace.

The law in regard to PAT testing is a little unclear. There is no fixed legal requirement to have appliances tested, but you should be aware that employers and landlords do need to make sure equipment is fit for purpose and safe to use. With regular PAT testing you have the necessary up to date records to show that appliances were checked and approved in the past.

Here at VF Electrical Services, we arrange and conduct testing for a large number of clients including landlords of domestic properties and managers of commercial workplaces across Scotland. We offer flexible testing regimes which are thorough, meticulous and competitively priced as and when required, backed up by accurate record-keeping and plenty of feedback should it be necessary.

Whether you want a stand-alone test or would prefer it in tandem with the issue of an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), we can make it happen at a time and date that suits you. Our friendly team is available right now to discuss your needs, so call 01382 699 500 today. We hope to be hearing from you soon.
